Finance Manager

Rainbow Recruitment Services are recruiting on behalf of their client in Rustington (West Sussex), for a Finance Manager.

You will be joining a well-established (50+ years) SME business that specialises in high performance cable distribution and the manufacture of cable assemblies, supporting a client base across multiple industries and countries.

As a key part of the senior management team, you will be reporting to the Managing Director.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with the ability to drive financial performance.

This role is office based and incorporates the administration of our daily account tasks through to finance management reporting and providing support to the senior management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open / verify customer and supplier accounts

  • Process and reconcile invoices, payments and expenses efficiently

  • Prepare detailed financial reports and statements for the Senior Management Team

  • Handle queries from suppliers and clients

  • Reconcile bank statements and accounts

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns

  • Understand and process import/export transactions

  • Credit control and debt management

  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion

  • Provide and present monthly management accounts

  • Manage cashflow and financial planning

  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Oversee and be responsible for payroll and pension management including PAYE

  • Ensure month end and year end processes are completed in a timely and efficient manner

  • Conduct financial analysis and develop financial strategies to the Senior Management Team and Board

  • Liaise with auditors, tax/legal advisors, and other external stakeholders

  • Drive improvement of, and maintain accurate accounting systems, processes and controls

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and legal regulations and requirements

  • Opportunity to also hold the position of Company Secretary, full training will be provided if required

  • Support the senior management team in other areas of the business as required

 

You will have:

  • A minimum 2 years of Proven experience in a senior accounting role

  • AAT Qualified and/or Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA)

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations

  • Strong knowledge of VAT regulations UK, Export and Import duties

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS office

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English are essential - The role requires confident and professional interaction across departments and with external partners.

 

Hours:

  • This is a full time, office based, permanent position - 37.5 hours per week, however, a 4 day week (33 hours) would also be considered.

  • Working hours : Monday to Thursday 8.00 am to 5.00pm, Fridays 8.00 am to 12.30pm

 

Salary & Benefits:

  • Approx. £35,000 (depending on experience), with enhancement for Company Secretary duties.
