Housing First Worker

Rainbow Recruitment Services are recruiting for a Housing First Worker, on behalf of their client, one of the largest not-for-profit specialist providers of care, support and housing services for vulnerable people in Sussex.

The Housing First Service is designed to improve rough sleeper’s ability to access statutory support services, temporary and long-term housing solutions.

Role Summary:

Housing First staff provide essential day-to-day support for those with a history of rough sleeping and homelessness. Intensive support is provided to ensure individuals with complex needs are able to sustain placements and tenancies. Accommodation will be provided through temporary/emergency placements, private rental sector, social housing and NSAP units managed through the local authorities.

Key Functions:

  • To manage a caseload of clients and provide intensive tenancy support to former rough sleepers with multiple and complex needs.

  • To provide practical support, advice and expert assistance to prevent individuals returning to rough sleeping.

Person Specification:

  • Experience of working with people with complex needs.

  • An understanding of the barriers which prevent rough sleepers from engaging with services and accessing temporary and long-term housing solutions.

  • Ability to monitor support plans and identify additional support needs.

  • Working knowledge of current housing legislation and welfare benefits.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and to organise own workloads

  • Excellent IT skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


Working hours: 37 per week Monday to Friday

Locations of work: Eastbourne, Lewes, Wealden - This post requires you to be a driver with with access to a car to travel for work.

Starting salary: £21,622 + £1,000 car user allowance
